Halong Bay is located 180km due east of Hanoi, with a drive of 3-4 hours. It is set in the emerald sea of the Gulf of Tonkin. Located in the north eastern area of Vietnam, Halong Bay makes up Halong City, Camera Pha town and the island area of Van Don, the site of an ancient commercial port, tour to halong bay from Hanoi.
It is a region with considerable biological diversity with environments of salt water woodlands, tropical woodlands and reefs. It has also been acknowledged to be an essential area of the starts of human presence at such historical sites as Xich Tho, Dong Mang, Thoi Gieng and Soi Nhu. It borders Pet cat Ba Island in the southwest and the East Sea to the east, with a shoreline of 120km. Of the lots of grottoes to check out, possibly the most unforgettable are those at Dau Go Grotto on Driftwood Island, the Virgin Grotto on Bo Hon island array and Thien Cung Heavenly Palace Grotto, the most recently discovered of them all. Thien Cung is to be discovered 4 km from Halong City and is entered through a narrow strip of woodland, before the landscape opens out into a grotto measuring 130 metres. Bai Chay is a popular vacation resort with a charming coastline location and makes a wonderful base for finding the area. There are numerous hotels right here, ranging from small bed and morning meal hotels and backpacker's hostels to luxury 5 star hotels, as well as dining establishments serving regional and worldwide food and dynamic bars. The white sandy beach and magnificent backdrop of reduced lying hillsides stretch for 2kms and make a stress-free location to remain, with several family run dining establishments situated along the coastline front. Food, beverage and hotels and resorts in the location are incredibly affordable.
